Plot Storming and The Hero’s Journey @ Thornlie Library (with Rebecca Laffar-Smith) at Thornlie Public Library

Plan and outline your novel with The Hero’s Journey!

Discover how Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey can help you plan and outline your novel. With examples from George Lucas’s classic Star Wars series, learn how ancient mythologies shape many of the world’s most popular stories, how you can use this structure to give shape to your book, and prepare a plan that will help guide you through the novel writing process.

All participants will also receive a workbook to help develop a solid story concept from nothing through to detailed story beats. This is a great opportunity to plan your novel for National Novel Writing Month or learn how to add flesh to the basics of a story idea you might already have so that the writing flows smoothly and easily in November, or whenever you choose to begin your first draft.

Later, Rebecca established Aulexic, a small publishing house specialising in books for children with language and literacy difficulties. In May 2015 Aulexic launched the first three titles in the ‘P.I. Penguin’ series. Rebecca also coordinates the Write Along The Highway Writer’s Festival, supporting local writers and bringing industry events and awareness into the community, while continuing to develop an ever growing catalogue of books both for children and adults in a range of genres, including romance, science fiction, and fantasy.
